CORK CITY

THE OPTICIANS, WILTON SHOPPING CENTER, CORK CITY.

With the opticians the main issue was trying to fit all the requirements into a compact space. With my design i decided to break the mold and move the display area to the back of the space as i felt when you enter straight into the display area, it gave a stuffy cramped and hectic feeling which could cause people to leave or to simply not enter. With the very well naturally lit display area at the back the customers feel as if they have more space due to a void through all the floors above. The test areas as well the dispensing areas all have been made as large as their respective areas. I found the inspiration for my aesthetic by looking at Japanese architecture with the Shoji doors as well as Scandinavian Architecture with the two been used in harmony with each other to create a bright, spacious and relaxing space to both shop and work in.
