CORKCITY

MESH ARCHITECTS,

6 UNION QUAY.

For the final project of 3rd year I was tasked with designing an Architectural office for a firm of my choice in 6 Union Quay, Cork City. For my Architectural Firm I chose Mesh Architecture which is currently  based in Dublin and is registered as an RIAI practice with Grade 1 Conservation Accreditation. I therefore Felt they would be the perfect Firm to use this building as it is an historical building.

For my design I wanted to preserve as much as possible the original aesthetic of the traditional late 19th century stonework as well as the beautiful paneled glass. I used similar paneled glass in my design and used it throughout to let light penetrate through the building and also to give it a lighter feeling to contrast all the stonework. I used a minimalist colour palette with the use of greys and whites with bursts of a traditional racing green finish along with minimalist furniture to make the space feel lightweight and open.
